Lori Ritz is my boss. And she’s a darn good one. When she asked me to take pictures of not just her family, but her entire family on her husband’s side I was thrilled, and nervous.

This was my biggest session to date and I enjoyed every minute of it.

They were even kind enough to feed me. And anyone that knows me knows I definitely speak the language of food.

The sun was fierce and made it a bit hard to get what I needed, especially in the places they wanted the shots to be taken. But we did our best and I think a lot of the shots turned out beautifully.

I love this kid. So much in fact that she almost makes me want another girl. This is after I’ve sworn that I would never ever ever be pregnant again. I hate being pregnant. I’m not one of those women that glow. I’m one of those women that spent the first five months being a lovely shade of green and needing a barf bucket available at all times.

But little Hannah. Oh my word, this little girl. She stole my heart and this was, so far, my favorite shoot to do. I was only with Hannah and her mommy for an hour yet I managed to shoot 160 frames.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Oh and by the way, Amber (Hannah’s mommy) made that adorable tutu and the hairbows. Faith got her very own pink and purple tutu today and has been wearing it everywhere. Check out her stuff here.

Thank you, Amber, for letting me play with your little girl for a while. If you ever need a babysitter, call me..but don’t expect to get her back.

I was supposed to have an external flash. It was part of the plan. But sometimes plans fall through and you make do with what you have.

All of these pictures were taken without the aid of any flash. It was all done with the light I had available, which wasn’t much.

Michael and Anne, your wedding was absolutely gorgeous and I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to invade your space and be a part of your day. I hope I got at least a couple frame worthy shots for you..

This wedding brought back flashbacks of my own. We did everything ourselves from the invitations to the decorations to a lot of the food. I could feel the stress creeping up on me and my throat closing up just watching this wonderful family get everything together. But they pulled it off beautifully, and it was a very beautiful, laid-back wedding.

Thank you, Zach and Wendy, for letting me be a part of your special day. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

The most adorable guest. I wanted to take this little man home with me.

I’ve had this shot in my head for weeks now but the sun just hasn’t been quite right.

Last night we got home and I realized that the time was right, so I yelled at Cory to get the quilt and the baby..I can be quite bossy when it comes to getting the right shot..and out we went.

As luck would have it, yesterday was the first day of fall. What a lucky girl am I to have timed it just right.

It took a while for little Gavin to warm up to me. He was a dream to work with and it was so much fun to watch him explore his surroundings.

Thank you for letting me take your pictures, Jo and Gavin. It was a blast.

Lincoln and Reiah’s mommy and I have a legacy.

We were best friends in high school. Our memories include sneaking into seeing “Scream” while still underage, then me hiding under my jacket through the entire movie and me sleeping in while she would go running every morning.

We’re both full on adults now, with husband and children and everything.

They were a dream to shoot, and I’m so glad they gave me the chance.

My babies.

There are three of them.

And there are days that they hate the fact that their mommy is constantly toting around a camera and sticking in their faces.

They’re tolerant at best, and when they are..that’s when the magic happens.

I tend to get more shots of this one than anyone else.

For the simple fact that he’s too little to get up and run away from me.

This was my first official photoshoot.

I’m addicted to open fields and tall grass.

I’ve thought about begging my husband to stop mowing the entire back of our property just so I can have a readily available space for impromptu photo shoots. Never mind the ticks that would come with that request. It still seems perfectly reasonable to me.

The pictures round and about town were shot in Guthrie. The little town is filled with so much character and I love all the history associated with it.

testing testing..is anyone out there?

I’m taking the plunge. Tonight I will put an ad on craigslist and I will start taking this whole photography thing more seriously.

For now, it’s just portfolio building.

But the future is wide open, and I’m ready to make some serious waves.

Or at least tiny ripples.

I have a lot to learn yet, but I’m hoping that you’ll be patient with me and join me on this crazy journey from mommy with a camera to photographer.
